What You Need to Book a Pole Dancer
When you contact us, have these details ready: your event date, venue name and town or city, expected guest count, event type (wedding, corporate, private party, nightclub), performance style you want (contemporary, burlesque, aerial fusion, circus-influenced), and whether you need music provided or can supply it. We book pole dancers for hotels in Mayfair and Park Lane, City livery halls, warehouse venues in East London, private homes, marquee weddings, Thames boats, country house venues and nightclubs across London and beyond.
Tell us if the venue has a stage or if we are performing in open space. That changes what equipment we need and how we position the act. Many venues do not have a stage, and that is fine. We work with the space you have.
If your event is corporate, let us know the theme or message. Our pole dancers can choreograph a performance that fits the tone. A company celebration is different from a gala or product launch, and we pitch the act accordingly.
2. Venues and space requirementsVenues and Space Requirements
A pole dancer needs minimum 3 metres by 3 metres of clear floor space, more if the performance includes tricks that require run-up or arm extension. Ceiling height should be at least 2.7 metres, ideally 3 metres. If you have a lower ceiling, tell us early. We can adapt, but some moves will not be possible.
The floor must be level and smooth. Concrete, wood, laminate or polished tile works well. Uneven garden ground or soft carpet makes it difficult and unsafe. If your venue has neither, we can use a portable dance floor, which adds cost and reduces the space available for the pole itself.
Power is needed for music and lighting if you want it. A standard 13-amp plug is enough. Some venues ask us to bring our own pole to protect their walls and ceilings. Others have a fixture already. We will confirm this when you book.
For hotel ballrooms in central London or City venues, space is rarely an issue. For intimate venues like private homes or smaller function rooms, check your dimensions early. A 3m x 3m corner is often enough, but we need to know.
3. Performance length and musicPerformance Length and Music
Standard solo performances run 15, 20 or 30 minutes. Group routines can stretch to 45 minutes. The longer the set, the more variety and recovery time the choreography needs.
For a 15-minute slot, expect a single polished routine. At 30 minutes, we can offer two contrasting routines or a longer piece with dynamics. At 45 minutes, a group act can build momentum with multiple performers and costume changes.
Music can be provided by us (we supply a portable speaker and chosen tracks) or you can integrate the performance into a DJ set or live band. If you have live musicians or a live band on site, we can choreograph to that too, though we need to know the track or style in advance.
Most venues have noise curfews. Hotel ballrooms in London often enforce 23:00 or 23:30 finish times. Warehouse venues in Shoreditch or other East London locations are more flexible, but clarify this when you book. A pole dancer with music is louder than a DJ alone because you are concentrating the sound on one performance.
4. Insurance and risk assessmentInsurance and Risk Assessment
All our pole dancers carry public liability insurance (PLI) covering bodily injury and property damage. Venues often ask for proof. We provide a certificate before your event.
Many venues, especially corporate ones and country house venues, will ask for a risk assessment. Pole dancing is acrobatic, so venues want to know how we manage falls, adjacent guests, and equipment failure. We have standard risk assessments that cover this. We provide one to your venue coordinator at least one week before the event. If your venue has specific safety requirements, let us know.
If the pole is being mounted to your ceiling, the venue may ask for a structural engineer's confirmation that the fixture point can take the load. A pole dancer can exert 300 to 600 kilos of force on a pole during certain moves. Permanent fixtures in hotels are rated for this. Temporary mounts in private homes or hired spaces sometimes are not. We will advise if there is any concern.
5. Pole rentals and equipmentPole Rentals and Equipment
If your venue does not have a suitable pole, we can arrange a rental or supply our own portable pole. Rental poles are typically 40mm diameter, either static (fixed rotation) or spinning. Most performances use a spinning pole because it reduces friction on the hands and allows certain tricks.
A rental pole costs between 150 to 300 GBP depending on the type and delivery location. Setup usually takes 20 minutes. Takedown is faster, about 10 minutes. If you are hiring a pole for a longer event or multiple performers, the cost may be lower per person.
We also arrange lighting if you want it. A simple uplighter or follow spot adds 100 to 200 GBP. Stage lighting creates impact and ensures the audience can see detail. It also covers the sides of the venue so the performance does not look isolated or dark.
The performer will need a private changing space, ideally a room with a mirror. Hotel venues have dressing rooms. Private homes or gardens may not. Let us know what you have available.
6. Booking lead timesBooking Lead Times
We recommend booking at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance. This gives us time to confirm availability, arrange any custom choreography, and coordinate with your venue on insurance and risk assessment paperwork.
For events in Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds or Liverpool, allow 4 weeks if possible. Travel time affects availability, and we need to arrange transport.
Last-minute bookings within one week are sometimes possible, especially for London dates. Email us or call the contact form with your request and we will do our best to help.
