Bella Entertainment books skilled fire performers for events across London and the UK. Fire dancers and fire jugglers perform choreographed routines with live music, typically running 8 to 15 minutes. The act requires outdoor space or a large indoor venue with high ceilings, adequate clearance and fire safety approval. Lead time is usually 2 to 4 weeks. Costs vary depending on event size, location and set length. Email [email protected] or use our contact form to request a quote with your date, venue and guest count.

What fire performers deliver
A fire dancer or fire juggler performs a choreographed routine with flaming props: torches, poi, staff or batons. The performance is set to live music or a backing track and typically lasts 8 to 15 minutes depending on your event and budget. The performer moves with precision and control, creating visual drama through the movement of fire and the performer's body.
Fire breathers and fire eaters are also available as part of a fire show act. These performers work in sequence with dancers and jugglers or as standalone pieces. A full fire entertainment package can combine multiple skills into a 20 to 30 minute showcase, though shorter 10 minute sets are more common for most events.
The act is designed to grab attention and create a memorable moment. Fire work well at evening receptions, after-dinner entertainment, private celebrations, corporate gala nights, wedding drinks receptions and marquee events. The darkness and scale of the flame make it effective indoors under the right conditions or outdoors at dusk and beyond.
2. Where fire shows work bestWhere fire shows work best
Fire performances work in a range of settings, but the venue layout and permissions matter more than the type of venue.
In London, we regularly book fire performers for events at hotel ballrooms in Mayfair and Park Lane where high ceilings and outdoor terraces make the act viable. City livery halls often have the space and existing fire safety protocols that make approval straightforward. Warehouse venues in East London with open floor plans and external areas work well. Thames-side venues and boat receptions work if the boat deck has adequate space and the vessel operator agrees.
Outside London, fire performances are popular at country houses in the Cotswolds, manor estates in the home counties, marquee weddings in rural settings, and event spaces in Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds and Liverpool. The outdoor element makes rural and country house venues easier to coordinate than city center spaces, since fire safety approval is simpler and guest comfort (outdoor viewing areas, weather shelter) is already planned.
Fire shows do not work in small rooms, tight indoor venues without ventilation, spaces with low ceilings (under 4 metres), or venues where the fire service or local authority has prohibited naked flame. Always check with your venue first. If you are unsure whether your venue can accommodate a fire act, describe it to us and we will advise.
3. Technical and safety requirementsTechnical and safety requirements
Fire performers need four things from your venue: space, clearance, power and approval.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Floor space | 6 to 8 metres diameter clear circle, depending on prop type. Fire poi needs less space than a staff routine. |
| Ceiling height (indoor) | Minimum 4.5 metres clear space above performer. Higher is safer. Sprinkler systems must be cleared with the venue and fire officer in advance. |
| Distance from guests | Minimum 3 metres from the audience. Barrier or staff to manage crowd during the act. |
| Ground | Flat, level surface. Outdoor grass is fine if well lit. Avoid wet surfaces or tight spaces with trip hazards. |
| Extraction (indoor) | Working ventilation to clear smoke. Venues with air conditioning or extract fans are preferable. |
| Insurance | Performer carries public liability insurance. Most venues ask to see a current certificate (often GBP 10 million cover or higher for event work). |
| Fire risk assessment | Larger venues and hotels typically have fire risk assessments in place. The performer may need to submit a method statement so the venue can update its assessment for the date. |
| Fuel storage | Performer brings and stores their own fuel (usually liquid paraffin). No special storage needed on the night, but the venue should be aware of it. |
| Curfew | Some venues have noise or performance curfews. Fire acts can run late into the evening but must respect your venue's closing time. |
We provide a method statement and certificate of insurance as standard. The venue will typically forward these to its fire officer or safety team for approval. This step usually takes 5 to 7 working days if the venue has not hosted a fire performer before. If your venue has approved fire acts in the past, approval can be faster.
4. Lead time and bookingLead time and booking
Book fire performers as early as possible. Standard lead time is 2 to 4 weeks from your booking date to the event. If you have less notice, contact us anyway. Availability depends on performer schedules and venue approval timings, so late bookings sometimes work but are not guaranteed.
The booking process is straightforward. Tell us the date, time, town or city, venue name, guest count and what you have in mind (a 10 minute solo performance, a longer showcase, fire breather or specific style). We will check availability with the relevant performer and provide a quote. Once you confirm, we liaise with the venue directly on the technical and insurance side. You do not need to chase paperwork.
If your event is indoors and the venue has not approved fire acts before, allow an extra week or two for fire safety approval. We will handle submitting the method statement, but the venue's response time is outside our control. Outdoor events at country houses or marquee settings usually move faster since fire approval is simpler.
5. Cost and what affects priceCost and what affects price
Fire performer hire for a single 10 to 12 minute set typically costs between GBP 400 and GBP 800 as a guide range. Longer sets, multiple performers or additional fire skills (fire breathing, fire eating) increase the cost. Travel outside London (for example to the Cotswolds, Manchester or Glasgow) may add a travel fee depending on the distance.
These are guide prices to give you a ballpark figure. Confirm the actual cost with a quote, which will be specific to your event date, location, set length and any special requests. Some events ask for a fire performer as part of a broader entertainment package, which can affect overall pricing.
The price includes the performer's time, preparation, props and insurance. It does not include venue hire, catering, sound system or other event logistics, which you arrange separately. If your venue requires additional security, medical standby or crowd management, these are your responsibility and will add to your overall event cost.
6. Fire performers across the UKFire performers across the UK
Bella Entertainment books fire dancers and jugglers across London and throughout the UK. We have regular availability in London, the home counties and major cities including Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds and Liverpool. Country house events and marquee weddings in rural areas are also well within reach.
Lead times and costs may vary by region. London events are quickest to arrange. For weddings in the Cotswolds, Scotland or the North, give us a bit more notice so we can co-ordinate travel and confirm logistics with your venue. We handle all of this directly, so you just need to provide the details and let us know what you want.
If you are booking other entertainment for your event, such as dancers, live musicians or a DJ, we can often bundle fire performers into a broader corporate entertainment package or coordinate with other acts. Speak to us about what you have in mind.
Frequently asked questions
Can fire performers work indoors?
Yes, but the venue must be large, well ventilated and have approved fire safety systems in place. You need a minimum ceiling height of 4.5 metres clear space, adequate floor space (6 to 8 metres diameter) and the venue's fire officer must sign off on the performance. Hotel ballrooms, warehouse lofts and large indoor event spaces often work. Small rooms, kitchens and tight indoor spaces do not. Check with your venue first.
What happens if the weather is bad for an outdoor fire show?
Outdoor fire performances can run in light rain or wind, but heavy rain or very strong winds will make it unsafe. Wind affects the flame direction and guest comfort. Rain affects grip and sight lines. If poor weather occurs on the day, we will reschedule the performance to a later slot in the evening or discuss alternatives with you. Always have a backup plan or covered space as an option.
Do fire performers need a sound system?
Fire performances are usually set to music. If your venue has a working sound system and DJ or AV team, the performer will work with them directly. If not, we can advise on a simple portable speaker setup. Sound requirements are modest (a single auxiliary input and playback of an mp3 file) so most event venues can accommodate it.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Book as soon as you know your date. Standard lead time is 2 to 4 weeks. If you need a performer in less than 2 weeks, contact us anyway and we will see what we can do. For events that require fire safety approval (most indoor venues), add an extra week or two to allow for the approvals process.
Are fire performers insured?
Yes. Bella Entertainment's fire performers carry public liability insurance. Your venue will ask to see a certificate before the event. We provide this automatically. Most venues require GBP 10 million public liability cover or similar, which our performers hold. Check your venue's insurance requirements and let us know if there are specific limits they need.
Can I combine a fire performer with other entertainers?
Yes. Fire works well alongside other acts such as dancers, live bands, DJs or comedy acts. If you are booking a broader entertainment lineup, tell us what else you have planned and we will co-ordinate timing, music, stage space and technical needs so everything runs smoothly.
